Flash floods have killed at least four people, while rescue workers continue to search for dozens of people who remain missing in the Indian Himalayas.

Officials fear the death toll could rise.

A video circulating online shows a torrent of water and debris washing away homes and other tall structures in the state of Uttarakhand.

Indian Army and other forces have been deployed to help with the rescue effort. However, officials say the ongoing rains, damaged roads and the threat of more landslides are complicating the rescue effort.

Following this, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that 80 individuals have been completely rescued, in line with his concern for the lives of the people under his jurisdiction.
