The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is currently gathering 500 municipalities in Cebu City to provide them with adequate budgets for their recovery from the calamities that have hit the country.

For this DSWD event, the department selected vulnerable Local Government Units (LGUs), specifically including Region 8, Region 5, and Region 6. Other regions are currently in talks to determine whether they qualify to receive the budget assistance.

Accordingly, the Province of Cebu hosted the event. The first day of this gathering brought together 14 governors, 98 representatives from various government agencies, and 369 local chief executives and district officials from cities and municipalities nationwide.

Cebu Governor Pamela Baricuatro warmly welcomed the delegates, expressing her heartfelt gratitude for their support in the province’s recovery from recent disasters and for their leadership as they gathered to strengthen governance and community-driven resilience.

Marivic Solano, Mayor of Pili, Camarines Sur (Region 5), also spoke exclusively to Bombo Radyo Cebu. She shared her joy at being included in the opportunity provided by the DSWD.
