On Tuesday, House Majority Leader Sandro Marcos rejected the drug use allegations made by his aunt, Senator Imee Marcos, against his parents, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza Marcos, calling the claims “lies” and “dangerously irresponsible.”
On Monday, at the Iglesia ni Cristo rally, Senator Marcos made the accusation. She talked about her brother’s supposed long-time drug problem and also brought in the First Lady, claiming the situation “worsened because the couple reportedly shared the same vice.”
Rep. Marcos released a written statement condemning his aunt’s comments. He said her remarks were “a web of lies aimed at destroying the government to advance her own political ambitions.”
He added that her latest public attack amounted to a personal betrayal.
“It hurts to see her do this. The betrayal of her own family brings so much pain… This is not the cause of a true sibling,” he said.
The Palace also responded on Monday, with Press Officer Daphne Oseña-Paez dismissing the allegations as a “desperate measure” intended to cast doubt on the President’s integrity without any factual basis.
Oseña-Paez stressed that President Marcos has proof that he is drug-free. She also said the senator made the accusations at a specific time as a trick to mislead people.
