World Boxing Council (WBC) President Mauricio Sulaiman is confident in Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao’s upcoming welterweight title challenge against Mario Barrios at the MGM Grand Las Vegas.

Sulaiman expressed no doubts about giving a nod to the fight, emphasizing the meticulous process followed to ensure Pacquiao’s preparedness.

Sulaiman noted that Pacquiao triumphally went through a comprehensive medical examination and got a license from the Nevada State Athletic Commission, which he applauded as one of the severe and most honorable boxing commissions globally. The WBC board also unanimously approved the title round.

Pacquiao apparently grew emotional when Sulaiman personally called him, reflecting on his voyage from his first WBC flyweight championship to now matching for the WBC welterweight title.

Sulaiman also dispersed any matter with regard to Pacquiao’s age, 46. He underlines Pacquiao’s self-discipline, stating that the boxer has a static healthy lifestyle, untied of vices such as alcohol, and conscientious care for his body—qualities and values that Sulaiman views as crucial in a contact sport like boxing.
