After Liza Soberano revealed the severe trauma she went through as a child in America, her former manager, Ogie Diaz, spoke out to defend and support the actress.
Here, Ogie confirmed that Liza’s trauma is real, saying he knows some of what Liza went through and admires her courage.
“Nai-kuwento ‘yan ni Liza sa amin, syempre kapag tatanggap ka ng talent kailangan makilala mo ‘yung tallambuhay niya,” Ogie said in his vlog on August 17.
He also shared that Liza doesn’t like dolls and egg trays because of bad memories from her childhood.
It is worth remembering that in a podcast episode of Sarah Bahbah’s “Can I Come In?”, Liza recounted how her siblings were kidnapped when they were children, her mother’s drug addiction, and the cruelty of her foster parents—including feeding her dog feces and locking her in the garage.
Ogie also said that Liza sought help from a psychiatrist when she was young, as part of processing her trauma.
Diaz also believes that Liza’s experiences have contributed to her acting skills when it comes to emotional scenes.
Furthermore, Ogie revealed that Liza’s dream is to become an actress, contrary to the actress’s previous interviews where she said she never planned to become an actress.
“Ako ha, ito kuwento ko naman to na gusto niya naman mag, artisa,” Ogie added.
“Hindi, sa totoo lang, oo gusto talaga mag-artista ni Liza, ngayon kung ang claim ni Liza na ayaw niya…sabi ko nga sa inyo kanya-kanyang kuwento na’tin,’ paglalahad pa ni Ogie ng matanong sa isyu na tinanggi ni Liza na gusto nitong maging artista.”
Meanwhile, Liza also confirmed in the aforementioned podcast that she has been separated from her former love team, Enrique Gil, for almost three years, whom she called her “first love” and “safety net.”
It is worth noting that Liza Soberano was Ogie’s protégé before moving to America to try to break into Hollywood and signing with Careless, the talent agency headed by James Reid.
