A 45-year-old father, Luciano Frattolin, reported his 9-year-old daughter, Melina Frattolin, missing. However, she was found dead in a wooded pond while they were vacationing in upstate New York.
He was charged by New York State Police with murder and concealment of his daughter’s body.
Court officials also said yesterday that a not guilty plea was entered against him at his arraignment.
According to the source, Luciano called 911 on Saturday night and said that his daughter had been abducted from a parking lot near Lake George, a resort town in the Adirondack region, prompting officials to issue an Amber Alert overnight asking for the public’s help in finding the missing child.
Frattolin initially said he had not seen his daughter since he emerged from the woods in a parking lot near Lake George.
In an account by New York State Police Capt. Robert McConnell, Frattolin said two unknown men forced his daughter into a white van.
However, authorities said there were inconsistencies in the father’s account, and that they concluded there was no evidence that his daughter had been abducted.
Police also believe Frattolin has no prior criminal or domestic violence history, so they believe Frattolin killed his daughter after the phone call and before he called 911.
