Officials in Kerr County, Texas have confirmed that nearly 100 people who were listed as missing after deadly flash floods swept through Central Texas on July 4 have now been found safe, with only three people still missing.

According to a statement released by the City of Kerrville, through the cooperation of state and local agencies, many individuals who were previously reported missing have now been reduced.

The devastating flooding event killed at least 135 people, including 37 children, and at least 161 others in other counties were previously reported missing in the area, and swept away homes, vehicles, roads, and trees on July 4, prompting a massive search and rescue operation along the Guadalupe River in Central Texas.

Authorities said that after the floods, hundreds were reported missing and through the efforts of the Texas Department of Public Safety, that number has now been revised down.

The updated Kerr County toll comes about two weeks after heavy rains in the evening hours of July 4 turned the Guadalupe River into a raging flood.
