The Regional Alternative Child Care Office (RACCO) Region 7 urges the public to follow the proper and legal adoption process to protect the rights and welfare of children.

During a discussion attended by the Bombo Cebu news team, led by the National Authority for Child Care (NACC) and the Regional Alternative Child Care Office, it was announced that the adoption process is now easier and faster through the guidance of the regional offices.

Conception E. Solera, Regional Officer-in-Charge of RACCO 7, said that all classifications of individuals can adopt as long as they follow the legal and proper process mandated by the NACC.

From 2022 to this year, Region 7 recorded 212 adoption petitions, which indicates they are not yet completed, while there are 125 that have issued an order for adoption.

The development is in line with Republic Act 11642 or the Domestic Administrative Adoption and Alternative Child Care Act, which aims to streamline and promote alternative child care.

It was also announced that single individuals, LGBTQ+ members, couples, and others, now have the right to adopt as long as they comply with the law.

They are asked to come to their nearest LGU child care centers or the RACCO office itself for guidance and assistance.

Solera added that currently, there are still 9 children who are ready for matching, but are still waiting for legal parents to comply with all adoption procedures.
