On Monday, July 14, 2025, Dr. Senen Priscilo Paulin, School Division Superintendent for the Department of Education (DepEd) Cebu Province, met with Governor Pamela Baricuatro. During this courtesy call, Dr. Paulin expressed DepEd Cebu Province’s support for the governor’s administration.
While Dr. Paulin highlighted the urgent need for more classrooms, learning materials, and teachers, he did not formally present these issues during the meeting. He stated that DepEd Cebu Province will wait for the Provincial School Board meeting to discuss these critical concerns with Governor Baricuatro.
DepEd Cebu Province is the largest school division in the Philippines, overseeing more than 1,000 schools across 44 municipalities. It serves over 500,000 students and employs more than 25,000 teachers and 3,000 non-teaching staff.
Governor Baricuatro pledged to work with DepEd, offering to act as a liaison to the DepEd Secretary. He also expressed willingness to approach the President or the First Lady if needed, citing his personal connection to teachers as a reason for his commitment.
