The Philippine petanque team is looking forward to its good performance in the 2025 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games scheduled in Thailand from December 9 to 20.

Recalling the 2023 SEA Games, the team only won one medal, a bronze from the women’s doubles pair of April Alarcon and Maria Corazon Soberre.

However, head coach Ambrocio Gontinas Jr. said that the team he led this year is more solid and strong, because according to him, there is a Malaysian coach helping the team in their preparation for the SEA Games.

Since July 1, Zani Lisa Mohamed has been serving as the head coach of the Malaysian team who is in charge of training the Filipinos at the Lawn Bowls and Petanque National Training Center in Clark, Pampanga.

In the upcoming competition, there are 11 gold medals at stake from men’s and women’s singles; men’s, women’s, and mixed doubles; men’s, women’s, and mixed (2 men+1 woman and 2 women+1 man) triples; and men’s and women’s shooting
