Cebu City Vice-Mayor Tomas Osmeña is concerned about the Cebu Bus Rapid Transit (CBRT) project due to its alleged lack of proper planning and questionable design changes that, he said, no longer serve the people.
He criticized the rerouting of the route to major malls in Cebu City instead of running it through residential areas like Bulacao-Pardo and Talamban.
Osmeña said the original BRT project was designed to serve the people and not business owners.
He also questioned the Department of Transportation’s plan to make the project a public-private partnership model, saying it will not attract investors.
He also added that the role of furniture designer Kenneth Cobonpue, who also served as chairman of the Regional Development Council (RDC) of Central Visayas, is questionable.
He also alleged that this is a conflict of interest, which is why he is investigating it.
