Tennis legend Daniil Medvedev has finally parted ways with his longtime coach Gilles Cervara.
The split between coach and player comes just weeks after Medvedev was eliminated in the first round of the US Open.
The Russian tennis star is still grateful to his longtime coach for guiding him to the highest ranking in tennis, becoming No. 1 in the ATP rankings.
He said the partnership has been solid for eight to ten years.
Looking back on the Russian star’s career, he has won 20 titles but has fallen to 13th place.
Meanwhile, in the last three major tennis tournaments, he has failed to advance after losing in the first round of elimination. This includes his elimination from the US Open last week.
Coach Cervara was also emotional in his message to the Russian star, saying that he loved being a coach and supporting the tennis legend, even though his job was difficult at times.
