CEBU CITY- Nagmugna og task force si Outgoing Cebu City Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia sa pagmonitor og pagsuta sa mga “scam hubs” nga nagtakuban isip lehitimong business process outsourcing (BPO) operations sa dakbayan sa Sugbo.
Gibutyag ni Garcia, nga kung ikumpara sa pagpangita sa usa ka Pogo Hubs mas dako kining hagit nga susihon og pangitaon ang usa ka scam hubs gumikan sa nagpakarong ingnong lehitimo kini nga usa ka Business processing outsourcing company (BPO).
“I will create a task force just to look into these operations… to do monitoring, surveillance, and to check one by one if their operations are not fraudulent,” matud ni Garcia
Naglangkob ang taskforce sa Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO) of the City Government, Philippine National Police (PNP), National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT), ug ang City Administrator’s office.
Ang ilang mga tahas maglakip sa pagmonitor, pag-surveillance ug pag-inspeksyon sa mga kompanya sa BPO, ilabi na sa mga lugar sama sa Cebu IT Park ug Cebu Business Park.
Kung kahinumduman, niadtong milabay nga Martes, Mayo 20, 2025 napasirad-an sa Cebu City Police Office ug Police Regional Office 7 ang establishimentong gituohang nag-operate sa maong scam hub sa Barangay Kasambagan sa Dakbayan sa Sugbo.
Gumikan kay gikaingong mag balhin-balhin kini og operate wala na makita ang mga empleyado nga nalambigit niini.
Busa, giawhag sa mayor ang mga empleyado sa BPO company nga makig-alayon sa mga awtoridad oug walay angay ikahadlok.
“I’m really urging them to come out, to tell their story so that… these kinds of illegal activities are what harm the legitimate call centers; these are what harm our city of Cebu as a center,” sigon ni Garcia.
Dugang sa Mayor nga ang maong pagpangilad nga pagpanarbaho nga mao usab ang buhatun sa usa ka scam hub, makadaot ngadtu sa mga BPO nga mga kompanya dinhi sa Dakbayan sa Sugbo.
